The Steel Hitch is a crucial component that connects your Burley Trailer to your bicycle. It is easy to install on the rear skewer of your bike and remains attached so you can easily connect your Burley Trailer whenever you need. If you want to switch the Burley Trailer between different bikes, simply get a few extra hitches and install them on the additional bikes. This way, you won't have to uninstall the hitch each time you want to change bikes. The Steel Hitch is compatible with most bikes straight out of the box, but if you have a breezer style dropout or a unique setup, you may need an adapter.
It works with disc brakes and full suspension bikes. However, it does not fit Breezer style dropouts. The Steel Hitch is designed to fit QR axles and solid axles up to 12mm in size. For 12mm Thru-Axles, you will need to use Burley's adapted Thru-Axle, which has external threading to support the installation of our axle mounted hitches.
If you are upgrading from a Classic Hitch to a Steel Hitch, make sure to also purchase a Burley Flex Connector. The Sport Type for this product is Cycling.
